“And a little child shall lead you.” And indeed, a child leads me…my grandson, David. He lives far away so we facetime. On a typical morning since he was 2 ½ and still ongoing at age 5, he will tell me a story. It comes random, disconnected, and crazy but he is clear on the details, even if I am not. Then he says, “Grandma, you paint it.” I add my own twists, turns and chuckles. A story takes a couple of calls for him to imagine, but several months for me to complete. Therefore, I will never run out of silly, fun children’s book ideas.
In addition, sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with inspirations from the Lord for book ideas. Currently, a paraphrase of the Twenty Third Psalm in rhyme for a goodnight book burst into my head at 2AM. I jumped out of bed to write it down. The few people to whom I read the poem, got a tear in their eye. So, I do believe it is inspired. Now begins the hard work of drawing, painting and publishing. Don’t hold your breath; it probably won’t be out until next spring.
